Today was short and sweet at approx 50 miles. We rode in heavier traffic again today, but the girls handled it well. At the end of the ride we once again met with the girls’ grandparents and founder of the Ride, Pops. They recapped the ride, enjoyed some treats from Mimi and Pops, and wrapped it up for another year! Thank you for everyone’s continued support and encouragement. And thank you for supporting our Women Veterans! God bless our country!

Today the girls rode solo. Tom and Steph had to travel to South Dakota for a half marathon…so Steph contributed by foot in the half marathon and Tom rode the trails of the Black Hills. Lucie and Lilli had a beautiful ride here in Wyoming, accumulating 100 miles. Today took us through a scenic area, lots of hills and parts of a canyon. The shoulder wasn’t too wide, so the support vehicle stuck close. Overall, the girls did great on their first solo ride!

Today was quite challenging for the riders! Day 2 is always tough. Some of the excitement from beginning this year’s challenge has worn off…and the reality of the task ahead has set in. Muscles are sore, backsides are even more sore, and regrets of not training harder are eating away at the riders. The thought that keeps them pedaling mile after mile is – our Veterans sacrifice immensely more and face much steeper challenges, we can keep going. Today was a mind over matter kind of day. The riders were relieved to reach the next town, and to have Day 2 under their belt. This ride was a little riskier due to an increase in traffic. Vehicles did not slow down often, we were grateful for a good shoulder to ride on.

Ride the Range 2023 started early this morning. This year we are sticking close to home and will ride throughout Wyoming. Today the riders wrapped up 108 miles. The riders this year are Tom and his two daughters, Lucie and Lilli. In the support vehicle we have Tom’s wife, Stephanie, and the girls’ mom, Havely. Their little brother, Lane, will be hauling coolers and food tubs – ensuring the riders stay hydrated and have plenty of energy! This morning the mood was positive and light as the journey began. Today’s ride will be a relatively safe ride with little traffic and a good shoulder. Beautiful views are always in the works. Patriarch of the family, Keith (aka Pops), met the group before the set out to get in the first morning prayer of the ride.

Everyone knows it didn’t really happen if there aren’t shirts to commemorate the event! Buy yours today and part of the proceeds benefit our fundraiser!
